ROBERT SORBY SHEAR SCRAPERS
A scraper tool is generally a flat cutting tool that will leave a fine finish if the edge on the tool is sharp. Ask any metal turner!
Shear scraping is a something of a recent development in that instead of holding the scraper flat as we did at school, (that dates me!) the blade is held at an angle of 45° so that the wood slides by the cutting edge. This cut will make shavings as fine as angel hair.
This tool has a square shank with a cutter recess cut at 45° so that when the shank is held flat on the tool rest, the blade will automatically be at the correct angle.
Supplied with internal or external cutter (Nos 9 or 10 Replaceable Sorby Cutting Tips).
The picture top Left shows the internal cutter in use. Top right shows the external cutter in use.
For bigger work, the RS200KT is superb.
