Sorby Indexing System 1 1/2" Bore

The indexer is a plate with 24 precise slots into which fits a locking pin for holding the spindle at any one of the 24 points for drilling, grooving, measuring out for barley twists, clock decals and similar jobs.

The plate is slid over the mandrel and trapped by the chuck rather like an over-size washer. This system will fit any lathe with a 1 1/2" mandrel shaft.

The plate is about 2mm thick so for the sake of safety, remove it for general turning and only have it fixed in place for indexing work.
