STILES AND BATES RTR3 ROUND BAR TOOLREST

The RTR3 has a 100mm long x 19mm dia stem and a 200mm long x 19mm dia T bar

Made in bright mild steel, welded construction. Designed primarily for use with round bar hollowing tools, the tool rest was soon in use on the regular Friday demos and we made a few for customers. They work well, absorbing the tool vibration whilst allowing the tool to slide easily at whatever angle it is presented to the work.

We now make these tool rests to order because many turners like to modify the sizes, so please allow us a few days if you can.

If you have an odd size or want the stem/T bar longer or shorter please contact us.

What Creative Woodturning said

"Of all the rests I used in the review, I found the one from Stiles and Bates stood out from the others. Made from bright mild steel, the rest has a solidly welded cross bar that is angled out from the stem, a major advantage over the other rests of this type.
Although Iím sure this rest would have worked straight from the packaging I polished the top of the rest with some fine abrasive and all the tools slid beautifully making a great difference to the finish on the work.
Of the other rests on test, some had the top bar threaded onto the main stem, one of which constantly came loose leaving me a little wary of this type of rest and I was more at ease with the Stiles and Bates rest with its solid construction."
Mike Swain, Creative Woodturning.
