The Supernova2 is claimed to be the most advanced chuck on the market today with fully sealed, composite indexing backing plate made from high-tech Duracon material (prized for its light weight/ high strength ratio), special Tuff Lock gearing hardened and designed with a wide, open formed tooth that gives a fast smooth action and unshakeable grip to deliver exceptional power and reliability.
The SuperNova2 Chuck is made from high quality K1045 machine steel for optimum tensile strength and wear.
Jaw slides are made from copper impregnated material which aids hardness and wear resistance. Copper has outstanding qualities as an anti-seize and low friction agent. Prior to the invention of the ball bearing, copper was the primary metal in bearing materials. In the Supernova2 copper is fused into the material to achieve the best mechanical properties.
The SuperNova2 Chuck comes with a woodworm screw as standard, featuring a square shank for positive locking into the chuck body, a groove for locking into the jaws, and a deep fine blade for easy lead into the wood.
Also included is a versatile 50mm jaw set designed especially to cut into the wood and grip firmly in contraction mode to provide high tear out strength. Some chucks use an engineering profile (designed to hold hard material like steel) or rounded profiles, which just crush the wood fibres without digging in and holding securely.
The SuperNova2 has an auto safety stop feature so the jaw slides cannot project beyond the chuck body.
All Nova Chucks use the same jaw fixing method with the widest range of accessories of any chuck in the market place, and are backwards compatible - meaning that your chuck is the most versatile available and your chuck purchase holds its value.
The SuperNova2 has a unique soft touch pivot action handle which can operate the gears whilst held at an angle and the allen head pinion is captured into the chuck body, in 2 positions, delivering high quality, easy to use performance with positive and quick locking. Reference rotation arrows allow quick view for locking direction.
This version includes a 1 1/8" x 12 tpi right hand threaded insert.
