Microplane rasps hardly need an introduction, nor all that technical stuff about the chemical photo-etching process that gives the high grade stainless steel a razor edge that cuts and cuts and lasts and lasts without clogging.
Everyone knows they cut with effortless ease on wood, plastics, rubber, body filler, Formica, plaster etc. so not much point in mentioning that either.
If however you are making walking sticks, carving or shaping timber or doing barley twists in the style of Stuart Mortimer, these are superb tools and just what you need. The only downside is that it is easy to get carried away so the rocking horse ends up as a mouse or something.
Blades are about 25mm wide.
